FAQ
How is the discharge date computed?
Enlistment date plus the service months, minus one day. A Jan 5 army enlistment (18 months) discharges July 4 the following year.
Which service lengths are used?
Current terms: Army/Marines 18 months, Navy 20, Air Force 21, social service 21. Alternative services differ—check MMA guidance.
Can the actual date differ?
Yes—weekend/holiday adjustments, leave balances, and policy changes can shift it. The unit's records are authoritative.
